Ondokuz Mayıs University (OMU) organized a "Blended Intensive Program for Sustainable Agriculture" under the Erasmus+ Blended Intensive Program (BIP) at Omtel Hotel.
This program, part of a new initiative designed to facilitate the participation of individuals who faced long-term travel restrictions during the pandemic, includes both online and face-to-face training modules.
Following a 2-week online training module, 22 students from the Czech University of Life Sciences Prague, Castelo Branco Polytechnic Institute in Portugal, University of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine of Bucharest in Romania, and University of Life Sciences in Lublin, Poland, completed the face-to-face portion of the training.
The training covered various aspects of sustainable agriculture, including the principles of sustainable farming, the effects of climate change and global warming, biodiversity, renewable energy technologies, smart farming practices, carbon and water footprint calculation, organic farming, soil management, cover cropping, waste recycling, bio-products used in disease management, good agricultural practices for food security, and the role of biotechnology in sustainable agriculture.
The instructors included Prof. Dr. Zeki Acar, Prof. Dr. Mehmet Bozoğlu, Prof. Dr. Gürkan Alp Kağan Gürdil, Prof. Dr. Kürşat Demiryürek, Prof. Dr. Coşkun Gülser, Prof. Dr. Erkut Pekşen, Prof. Dr. Musa Kavas, Dr. Öğr. Üyesi Emek Aslan from the Faculty of Agriculture, Doç. Dr. Gediz Uğuz from the Department of Chemical Engineering, Doç. Dr. Hülya Aykaç from the Environmental Problems Application and Research Center, and Prof. Dr. Mihaela Geicu-Cristea from the University of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine of Bucharest in Romania.
Certificates were awarded to the students who successfully completed the program by the instructors and Dr. Öğr. Üyesi Mehmet Tütüncü, the OMU Erasmus Institutional Coordinator.
