Visit of Dr. Masroor Hussain, Professor & HoD (CE & DS) to Our University

Dr. Masroor Hussain's visit to OMU, Turkey, from April 22 to April 28, 2024, aimed to deepen collaboration between GIK Institute and OMU. The trip kicked off with engaging discussions at OMU's International Office, The first meeting was done at International Office and Prof. Dr. Mustafa Said Kurşunoğlu, Head of International Office of OMU, has warmly welcomed and assigned Dr. İlkay Erken was the coordinator for the visit of Dr. Hussain on day 1 at OMU, Samsun. our office gave a souvenir to Dr. Hussain. Assist. Dr. Mehmet Tutuncu, Vice Head of International Office also joined the meeting and he is also the head of Erasmus at OMU. Then he met with our University Rector Prof. Dr. Yavuz Ünal, they talked about future collaborations for both universities.

Dr. Idris Sancaktar, General Coordinator, Teknopark arranged a visit of Dr. Masroor Hussain to Teknopark at 19 May, where QTR company was incubated. The main idea of the company was to develop robotic solutions for humanity. They have made a robot for children therapy. There are only four companies in the world who are working on this. They have spoken about the project and can used as technology transfer fund to GIK/ or Pakistan. The meeting was ended with votes of thanks and a lunch from the CEO of the company, Mr. Osman Kazmaz.

A meeting was also conducted at Agriculture Faculty, there are nine departments, some of the departments research areas were visited by Dr. Masroor Hussain including plant tissue culture and molecular biology labs and greenhouses. Dr. Masroor Hussain has given the presentation to some of the faculty members including vice head of the department. The vice head of the department was agreed to make at least three teams to submit the proposals to Tubitak on vertical farming, soilless vegetable and ornamental plant growing, LED lights, watering system, etc. Mainly IoT and AI work will be done by GIK and practical implementation will be done at OMU. Different project proposals and opportunities for student and staff mobility were discussed to strengthen bilateral cooperation between GIK and OMU.
